Runs as ACC or PRG on all ST, STe, TT, Falcon Models
Now With Powerful Line Sorting Capability!
It's so handy to be able to whip off a simple letter or read a README file right from the Desk ACC menu without loading some major RAM gobbling graphic-intensive document processor. But Edit*Plus goes way beyond the little tasks like that. It is a truly powerful text editor to do what you need to do with your biggest files of any format.
For instance, what do you do if you want to save a piece from a capture of a long on-line session that ended up being 2 megs big, when you only have 1 meg of RAM? No problem -- Edit*Plus can edit files bigger than your computer's memory. What do you do if you have created a table and want to delete one of the columns? No problem -- Edit*Plus can cut/paste/copy column (rectangular) blocks as well as normal blocks of text. What if your database saved a file as text with records 900 characters long and you want to make some changes before printing it? No problem -- Edit*Plus handles lines up to 65,535 characters long. What if you want to insert a blank line between every paragraph of a 100 page document and want it done before next year? No problem -- Edit*Plus can search, replace, and insert all 256 possible characters, including special control characters like Carriage Return & Linefeed. You get the idea.
What about compatibility? Edit*Plus has been growing up for years since its birth as 'Diary' and later 'EdHak' and has been consistently upgraded and debugged to work with the wide array of Atari systems and software available today, from a 520ST running in low resolution on a TV to a TT or Falcon030 running with a big screen monitor or extended color card.
But you might ask, "How can Edit*Plus help me if all I do is play games?" Well, it can't... unless, of course, you just want to modify your high score record.
So what about all that "hacking" stuff that EdHak could do? For those who want it, it's still there. After all, Edit*Plus is basically an edit buffer into which you can put any collection of bytes, view them, change them in useful ways, and then put them back where they were or anywhere else -- whether it is a document, a binary file, a bunch of disk sectors or a chunk of RAM that you want to print, save, output to modem or midi or send to another application. Edit*Plus edits bytes, and text is bytes.
